About Our Family

Thanks for visiting Happy Pet Labs! We hope you find what you need. If you don’t, please contact us using our contact info at the bottom of the page.

We thought we’d tell you a little bit about ourselves. We’re a small business based out of sunny (and humid!) Houston, Texas. As you might imagine, in our climate we are all too familiar with fleas and other annoying pests.

Our story is similar to many of our friends, and many of our customers. One day, almost four years ago, our animals came in from the backyard and they were positively covered in fleas. Our only option was to get an expensive prescription option that would set us back by more than $90. You read that right, $90! After talking with some neighbors, we found there weren’t many better options.

Research and testing has led us to this product. You can see through reviews and testimonials that it works just as well (or even better) than anything else out there. If you have any questions, shoot us a message or give us a call. We're here for you.

What is Nitenpyram used for?

Nitenpyram is used for the treatment of flea infestations on dogs and cats. Once applied orally, nitenpyram begins to kill adult fleas on your pet within 30 minutes. Use this product whenever your pet is going to play outside, interact with other pets, or any other area where you feel that fleas could be present. As a neonicotonoid, it is used to help constrict the central nervous system of fleas, causing a quick removal.

How long does Nitenpyram last?

Nitenpyram lasts within your pet’s system for about 24 hours. Once this time has passed, you will need to give it another dose. Keep in mind that you may need to apply this to your pet over several days, as it will not kill all of the fleas in just one day. Once you have eliminated the initial pests, you can begin to give your pet one dose every 7 days, and then after a month, once every 30 days. We recommend this schedule as fleas tend to not die in cold weather, but they go dormant instead.

Is Nitenpyram safe?

In the dosages presented, yes, nitenpyram is safe if applied once per day. You can, of course, give your pet another dose if you can't remember if the original dose was taken. The initial studies discovered that it would take quite a lot for it to become dangerous. Even water, which you need to live, can be a problem if there is too much of it! As always, we recommend you talking to your vet, as there could be issues that pop up if your pet is on any other medications. In addition, only give your pet a dose if it is older than 4 weeks or is more than 2 pounds. Typical reactions from pets include itching, panting, and scratching.

What medications can this be used with?

Although we always recommend checking with your vet, in studies, this treatment is safe if used with heartworm medication, dewormers, antibiotics, vaccines, shampoos, and any other flea products.

How often can I give my dog Nitenpyram?

You can give your dog nitenpyram once every 24 hours. This is our recommended dosage for all pets. This is often enough to make sure that the adult fleas die and break the life cycle. Most infestations will end after a week, so you should give your dog one dose a day for 7 days.

Is Nitenpyram safe for puppies?

Yes, nitenpyram is safe for puppies as long as they are more than 4 weeks old and they weigh more than 2 pounds. The same goes for kittens.

If your pet weighs from 2 to 25 pounds: 12mg
If your pet weighs more than 25 pounds: 57mg

Give one capsule per day to your pet until there are no more fleas on your pet. Breaking the flea life cycle and killing adult fleas on your pet will keep fleas from reproducing.
The number of treatment days may vary depending upon the level of infestation.

Capsules may be fed directly to your pet or opened and contents sprinkled on or mixed with food. If you choose to use this method, ensure that you pet consumes the entirety of the contents.

Not sure if you gave your pet its dosage? It's okay to give it ONE more.

For animal use only. Do not give to sick pets. Do not give to puppies or kittens less than 4 weeks of age. Do not give to animals weighing less than 2 pounds. Consult your veterinarian before using Nitenpyram with any medications, including vitamins and supplements, since interactions may occur. If you observe any unusual signs, symptoms, or behaviors in your pet, contact your veterinarian immediately. Keep out of reach of children.

If you choose to use Nitenpyram, there are several side effects that you should be aware of.
The most common of them is that your pet may begin to start scratching. This is a good sign, it means that the fleas are starting to die!
Another frequently mentioned side effect is that a pet given the treatment begins panting. Neither of these should cause any alarm, they just mean that it's working.

There have been studies that show that it is very hard to overdose on this treatment. However, please only use the recommended dose.

If your pet starts reacting in a way other than the above (such as a diarrhea or vomiting), contact your veterinarian immediately.

Although studies have shown that there are not any food or drug interactions, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian about using nitenpyram along with any other products that your pet is currently taking. It is okay to take this product with heartworm medication
